SPRING SEASON
What is it and how can I get involved?
What is the Spring Season?
The Spring Season is a secondary program that allows Regional teams in Age-Group Divisions Under-10 (U-10) through Under-19 (U-19), in both genders, to travel and play against teams from other Regions in stratified levels. The Season is to be coordinated and administered by the Regional Spring Coordinator (RSC), or as designated by the Regional Commissioner (RC).
The Season will be divided into two halves with two mandatory breaks in the schedule, either in the First Half or Second Half of the Season, during the weekend that the Section Annual Conference and the National Annual General Meeting (NAGM) is held.
A. First Half for Divisions U-10 and U-12 Boys and Girls, and U-14 Girls runs from December 1, 2006 through a Saturday that is no later than two weeks before the 2007 Kirk Banks Tournament.
B. Second Half for Divisions U-14 Boys and U-19 and U-16 Boys and Girls runs from March 1 to May 31, 2007. During this half there will be a break in the schedule during the week of the Kirk Banks Tournament.
Who can play in the Spring Season?
To be eligible for participation in the Spring Season, a player must have registered and played in half of the games during the Basic Fall Season.
Exceptions may be granted to those players who were unable to participate in the Basic Fall Season because of special circumstances such as:
a) Illness or injury b) Military or out-of-state transfer into section c) Participation in a conflicting school activity (i.e.: band, sports) d) Region’s inability to accommodate that player
How do Players sign up for the Spring Season?
As the Basic Fall Season nears its end Coaches will be asked to pass out to all players an Application to Participate/Commit to Play form for the Spring Season. If a player wishes to participate in the Spring Season they will need to complete the application form to include signatures by both the player and parent. This form then will be given back to the Coach who will forward to the Regional Spring Commissioner who will compile a Spring Season Player Eligibility Roster. The number of players who will be able to play in the Spring Season will be determined by the number of Spring Season Coaches the Region has. It is our goal to have everyone play that wants to play.
